Lionel Messi showed ultimate respect by PSG players after the Club World Cup conflict

Paris Saint-Germain is perhaps the newly crowned champions of Europe and freshly out of an inter Miami 4-0 rout at the Club World Cup, but even now, Lionel Messi is still ordering the spotlights.

After the swinging victory at the Mercedes -Benz Stadium – secured by goals from João Neves (2), Achraf Hakimi and a own goal from Tomás Aviles – a multitude of PSG players waited in the tunnel to reconnect with the man who once lit the Parc des Princes.

Ousmane Dembélé, widely tilted as a favorite for this year’s Golden Ball – a Messi trophy won a record eight times – was one of the first to meet the Argentine icon, holding the layers of the Inter Miami shirt from Messi and taking a photo.

“Delighted to see you again @leomessi, the biggest of all time,” wrote Dembélé, who played alongside Messi for four seasons in Barcelona. “I hope you will continue to make history with @intermiamicf as in this world club.”

Also among the benevolent: the former teammates of PSG of Messi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Presnel Kimpembe and the boss of PSG, Luis Enrique – who managed Messi in Barcelona during one of the most successful periods in the history of the club.

The couple worked together between 2014 and 2017, winning the La Liga titles, three Copa del Reys, the Champions League and the Club World Cup – a golden era for the club and the player.

A PSG player who did not have a post-match time was Lucas Beraldo, but that did not prevent him from savoring the opportunity.

“Leo is a unique person. Sharing a game with him was magnificent,” said the young Brazilian.
“I was a child who was watching his magic on television, so it’s unique.”

Even in a unilateral result, it was clear – when Messi is in the building, everything else is just a show.
