Man Utd sensation now becomes Amorim’s best player ahead of Bruno and Mbeumo

Manchester United’s 1-0 triumph over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon instilled a new sense of optimism that Ruben Amorim is the man to lead the club forward.
Such a performance helped the Red Devils make it back-to-back Premier League wins, something that had not been achieved since May 2024 under former boss Erik ten Hag.
Since the end of August, the team have now won four of their last six matches, demonstrating the impressive work carried out by the boss despite links over his future at Old Trafford.
The 40-year-old also appears to have the support of the hierarchy, especially after Sir Jim Ratcliffe said he wanted to give the former Sporting CP boss three years in the role.
However, Amorim may have many players to thank for the club’s recent upturn in form, with the duo undoubtedly among the shining lights of the 2025/26 season.
The stats behind Bruno and Mbeumo’s success in 2025/26
Despite a dismal 2024/25 campaign, Bruno Fernandes has managed to put up incredible numbers for United, as evidenced by his tally of 37 goals and assists, but the midfielder has carried that form into the new campaign.
He currently leads the Red Devils’ charts in chances created, currently recording 2.8 per 90 – a far higher total than any other player in the team.
The 31-year-old also completed the most passes of any player, further highlighting his ability to provide others with endless opportunities – although he played a deeper role after a player’s arrival this summer.
Bruno has had to play as a number eight to help accommodate new addition Bryan Mbeumo, with the Cameroonian showing why the hierarchy forked out a fee of around £71million for his signature.
The 26-year-old has already made an immediate impact, achieving the highest shot on target accuracy rate of any player in the team, contributing to his status as the top scorer at present.
He has also created the same number of big chances in the Premier League as Bruno, highlighting his overall quality in attacking areas – something which was greatly lacking in 2024/25.
United star becoming Amorim’s best player
Mbeumo and Bruno both recorded a total of three goals and assists – with the two men recording the most contributions of any player in the United squad.
The efforts in front of goal, coupled with the aforementioned underlying stats, made the pair one of the first names on the Amorim team sheet.
Both men have played key roles in the manager’s recent renaissance and will likely continue to do so for the foreseeable future, potentially bringing new levels of success in the years to come.
However, the aforementioned two men may not be the only ones playing a vital role under Amorim, with Amad Diallo arguably one of their most important players at present.
Before the manager’s arrival at Old Trafford, the Ivorian was only an impact player under Ten Hag and often had to rely on minutes off the bench to achieve the desired effect.
He has since become a consistent starter over the past 12 months, but he is also doing so in a somewhat unfamiliar role to help fit into the 40-year-old’s infamous 3-4-2-1 system.
The 23-year-old has recently filled the RWB position, a slightly deeper role than he is used to, having joined the Red Devils as a right winger in the winter of 2021.
However, Amad took to the position like a duck to water, cementing it as his own and subsequently producing numerous incredible numbers in 2025/26.
He has featured in all but one league outing to date, recording just one goal, but it is his underlying statistics that have seen him stick with the fan base.

The Ivorian, who was described as ‘world class’ by one analyst, recorded 1.4 key passes per 90 as well as a pass success rate of 93%, subsequently demonstrating his ability to provide key chances for those around him.
Amad also completed 1.2 dribbles per 90 in the Premier League, allowing him to get into dangerous areas before making the assist to one of his teammates.
However, his new role saw him take on additional defensive responsibilities, which he took in his stride, as evidenced by his total of 1.9 tackles and 4.1 ball recoveries made per 90.
With such performances, Amad quickly became one of the manager’s key players, demonstrating that he can be trusted in a somewhat unnatural position.
If he continues on such a trajectory, the youngster can be a key member of the first team for many years to come and help Bruno and Mbeumo in their quest for success in the final third.
