The director of ‘Fantasy’ Kukla writing a film about women who stop for having sex
Director Slovenian Kukla, the first feature film Fantasy The world premiere was presented at the 78th edition of the Locarno Film Festival in the filmmakers of the current range on Friday, works on a new project that promises to bring its unique voice to a history on sex, war, tiktok and the relationship between women and men.
“My next film talks about a potential threat from a third world war,” said the writer and director THR. “Of course, 99% of world leaders are men, then a tiktker, like a joke, says that we should simply stop giving birth to their children, and we have to stop having sex. And then, women around the world stop having sex with men, and shit strikes the fan. ”
A title or other details of the new project are not yet known. But Kukla shares: “It’s going to be very different from Fantasy. “”
In FantasyA story of transition to adulthood full of laughter, dramas and twists and turns that focus on three girls who are foreigners and whose life is upset when they meet a trans woman called fantasy. The filmmaker described the film as a means of “inviting women to see themselves through their own objective rather than by external expectations”.
Totem Films manages international sales on the film, which is a co -production between Slovenia and northern Macedonia.
Kukla, who is also a musician, has developed a reputation for making clips before making her short film 2020 SistersWho won the International Honor Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival and the Award Prize at Premières Pro Plans d’Angers. She then transformed the short film into a feature film Fantasy.
“The process was so difficult that I said to myself:” I will no longer make another film “, shares Kukla with THR. And after giving birth, she thought she would need a break. But her creative energy pushes her to work on the new project. Said the filmmaker: “I had this idea for my next film five years ago, and I am already writing it.”
