Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted he “upset” Amad Diallo a bit by replacing him against Liverpool today.
The Red Devils secured a big victory at Anfield, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire earning their first three points at this stadium since 2016.
Amorim was delighted with the way Amad played, with the talented young winger setting up Mbeumo’s goal with a superb pass and generally making an excellent move up and down that right flank.
Nonetheless, see below how Amorim spoke after the match about the Ivory Coast international unhappy at being substituted in the second half…

“Amad is doing so well in this position, he is perfect for this position,” Amorim said in his post-match press conference.
“He was upset today when I made a substitution, but he was (on) a yellow card.
“If not, he will continue in the game because he is so important to us.”
Amad Diallo can be a hugely important player for Manchester United
Amad has shown many times during his career at United that he has it in him to be a hugely important player for the club.
The 23-year-old has had some fitness issues, but when fit and available he always seems to make a positive impact.
Although he started out as a winger or attacking midfielder, Amad is now showing his credentials as a winger in Amorim’s system, and it will be interesting to see how he continues in this new role.
In many ways it seems like MUFC could use Amad in their front three, but he also has a lot to offer with his work rate and defensive play, so for now this seems like a good way to get the most out of him.
