Man United spent around £200million this summer and in 2026 a lot of money will be spent again on improving Ruben Amorim’s squad. A new midfielder and striker are being sought, with two of their main targets being the Premier League.

It’s no secret that Man United are interested in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson to solve their midfield problems, and it has now been revealed that Antoine Semenyo is on their radar to support summer signings Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko in attack.

According to Football Insider, Mick Brown has confirmed Man United’s interest in Anderson and Semenyo, although he estimated £170million would be needed to secure the services of both players.

“Semenyo is the one they have been monitoring. United need to spend in January to improve the squad, and he is someone they wanted to sign in the summer before signing this contract. If the opportunity presents itself when the window opens, it would make a lot of sense as he would also be able to plug the hole left by Mbeumo.

“You look at the likes of Semenyo and Elliot Anderson coming in, they are Amorim’s main targets as both would make real improvements in key areas of the team. They would fill the gaps where there could be problems, add energy and dynamism to the team and help United take steps to succeed again.

“They would need to spend around £170 million on these two players to make them a team capable of competing for silverware and at the highest level. Personally I don’t see that happening, but they are interested in signing them both and if it can be done in January then maybe they will. There will be other teams interested too, so it wouldn’t be easy by any means, but I think these are the two players they need.”

Are Elliot Anderson and Antoine Semenyo worth £170m to Man United?

Man United have spent a lot of money in recent years and yet they are struggling to re-establish themselves as one of the forces of English football. Anderson and Semenyo would contribute to their efforts, although that £170 million could be spent on several areas of Amorim’s squad, including their defense.
