Malick Thiaw Transfer News: Newcastle United Complete Deal to sign the AC Milan defender | Football news

Newcastle concluded an agreement to sign the AC Milan Malick Thiaw defender for 30 million pounds Sterling (35 million euros) plus 4.3 million pounds sterling in additional modules.

Thiaw has signed a long -term agreement in St James’ Park and will wear number 12 for the Magpies.

Speaking in a club declaration confirming his arrival, he said: “I am really delighted to join this massive club. I can’t wait to start training and knowing my new teammates and all the staff.

“The gaffer showed me his vision and what he wanted to do with me as a player and the club itself, which is really exciting.

“I think Newcastle talks about itself. It’s a big club, a big club with passionate fans that I can’t wait to see in St James’ Park.”

The 24 -year -old born in Dusseldorf, who plays mainly as a central defender, joined Milan de Schalke in 2022 and made 85 appearances for Italian giants. Last season, Thiaw was part of the Milan team who beat Rivals Inter to claim his 8th Italian Super Cup.

In terms of German youth, Thiaw was also part of the team that won U21 euros in 2021.

Howe: Thiaw adds quality to our defense

Newcastle boss, Eddie Howe, said how much he is satisfied to welcome Thiaw to the club after admiring him for a “long time” in Milan.

Thiaw played against Newcastle at San Siro in the 0-0 draw between the two games in the Champions League in September 2023.

“We are really happy to have Malick on board. He is a player that I have admitted for a long time and someone who will add real quality to our defensive options.

“Malick is still young but brings a precious football experience in the Champions League, as well as playing in the Bundesliga and Serie A, which is a major positive for us while we are going back to Europe this season.”
