Luis Palma – “He knows why he does not play all the time”, Reinaldo Rueda

The boss of Honduras, Reinaldo Rueda, explained his reasons to put in the bench the Celtic winger Luis Palma for the match against El Salvador, which Honduras won 2-0. It was a decent answer after their first match of the 6-0 Golden Cup against Canada, but for Palma, it was more frustration because he lost his place in his national team where he was so used to be their talisman.
“Luis Palma has had a difficult season thanks to injuries and a lack of playing time. Our goal with Luis is to prepare it and fully adapt to our vital world cup qualifications in September,” said Reinaldo Rueda.
“I spoke to him before the tournament and explained this to him to know why he doesn’t play all the time.”

With his loan period at Olympiacos, now, Palma will return to Celtic for a pre-season training in the hope of impressing Brendan Rodgers or perhaps relieving good news from his agent who will be busy trying to move for the Hondurian winger.
“This is one of my lowest moments in my career,” said Luis Palma after the 6-0 defeat against Canada.
Celtic Honduran winger Luis Palma Concacaf Gold Cup match in Vancouver on Wednesday, Palma replaced half-time in humiliating defeat.

It was a terrible result for his country and an experience that Palma described as one of the lowest moments of his career, the Herald reporting that Luis said:
“It’s very sad. This is one of my lowest moments in my career. We must accept that we are going through a very difficult period for the moment. But we all know that it was far from acceptable. We must now use it as a learning experience for the rest of the tournament. The whole team is devastated by this reverse.
Only hard work will help us. We have to return a new page. We did not have a clear idea of what we wanted to play, and it showed. This defeat hurts a lot.

Palma signed for Celtic as part of this disastrous transfer window of the summer of 2023, but at the start, it looked like a signature that could note the Celtic. During her first season in hoops, Palma contributed to decent figures, with 10 impressive goals and 10 assists all competitions in 36 appearances.
We can say that it was the best we got from the winger, signed at the Greek Club Aris for 3.5 million pounds sterling, and Palma spent the second half of last season on loan with Olympiakos.
This offer had a purchase option. However, Olympiakos has chosen not to resume this purchase of 3.3 million pounds sterling and Palma will now return to Celtic for pre-season training with its somewhat in the balance, after only three departures during the loan.

You can imagine that the Honduras match with Canada would have been a good opportunity for the winger to get into the shop window, so being addicted to half-time must have been difficult to take.
It is undeniable that Luis Palma is a talented player and apparently, he is well loved in the Celtic locker room, however, in Celtic, his lack of rhythm and acceleration stands out compared to Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda, who have in the main filling the wing options that Palma would have hope to play.

It remains the hope that a good pre-season performance could encourage other pretenders to manifest themselves during the summer, otherwise it is difficult to see Luis Palma with many things for Celtic in the coming season.
