This character, Aurélia, was played by the Portuguese actress and singer Lúcia Moniz.
Before appearing in Love Actually, Moniz had already represented Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest.
She participated in Eurovision 1996 in Oslo with the song My heart has no color.
The entry finished in sixth place, which at the time was Portugal’s best result in the competition.
This will remain the country’s best performance at Eurovision until Portugal achieves its first victory in 2017.
