It was not an easy summer for Tottenham, and things have worsened well in the last 48 hours.

During the 1-1 draw against Newcastle in South Korea this weekend, James Maddison seemed to undergo a very serious injury. The English international was in great embarrassment after having undergone a contactless injury with his knee, and the feeling is that it could be a recurrence of the problem that ended his 2024-25 season at the start.

According to the football initiate, Mick Brown revealed that Tottenham had already entered the market in their attempt to sign a replacement for Maddison, who should face a long spell on the sidelines.

“Tottenham will be forced on the market. James Maddison is an important player for Tottenham and for Thomas Frank, so they will need someone who can enter and do this job. It is horrible to see a player injure themselves like that, especially in pre-season. It will be a hard blow for Tottenham to lose it, but they work hard for a replacement.

“This attacking position in the midfield is the one they were looking for for some time, they obviously missed Gibbs-White, but they look at alternatives. It’s always difficult when a player is injured, but clubs are preparing for this type of thing.

“They look at the areas of the team in which they could be weak, so they will have players on their radar. Now they will have to intensify their efforts to sign one of them.”

Mailing Gibbs-White was already a bitter pill for Tottenham to swallow, but now that Maddison has been struck with a serious injury, it’s even worse. They must work quickly to obtain a replacement, keeping in mind that other additions are already necessary for the team of Thomas Frank.
