Long-lost images resurrect the king

After Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi recently played Elvis Presley on screen, the King himself makes his comeback in 2026 thanks to a new concert film constructed from long-lost footage of Presley’s performances.

Several media reported on Thursday October 9 that Neon and Universal Pictures Content Group have acquired U.S. and international rights to EPiC: Elvis Presley in concertdirected by Baz Luhrmannwhose most recent achievement effort was 2022 Elvis with butler. Although no exact date has been announced, the plan is to release the concert film theatrically in 2026.

Luhrmann constructed the film from footage thought lost from Presley’s Las Vegas residence in the 1970swhile also featuring 16mm footage from the 1972 documentary Elvis on tour8mm footage from the Graceland archives and recordings of Presley recounting “his side of the story“.
