Locarno Sets The Pardi Di Domani range, Grounding Grounding Experimentation

The films of emerging talents and established authors, notably Neo Sora, Marta Popivoda, Abdellah Taïa, Salvatore Mereu and Radu Muntean, are part of the 2025 edition of the Pardi dumani program of the Locarno Film, its short and medium selection, which was unveiled on Tuesday.
Locarno calls for its Pardi dumani section “a vital space for expressive experimentation and innovative forms of cinematographic poetry” and “an angular stone” of its mission “to promote dialogue between generations and traditions and support filmmakers who will define the future of cinematographic expression”.
The edition of the 78th edition of Locarno of this year offers 40 first world in three competitions and 25 countries, “offering the public an overview of the possible ways that the cinema of the future could take.”
In the Concorso Internazionale and the Nazional Concorso, Fresh Voices find their first international, international and Swiss expression, respectively, while the Concorso Corti d’Autore highlights “How Filmmakers, well versed in the narration of feature films, draws the creative force and the inspiration of the short form”, underlined the festival.
This last this year includes tastes of the Mongolian filmmaker Lkhagvadulam Purev-Hochir, the Italian director Salvatore Mereu, the Japanese filmmaker acclaimed Neo Sora, the award-winning Moroccan writer Abdellah Taïa, the Serbo-Croatien duo Matija Gluščević and Dušan Zorić, the Laotian director Radu Katharina Huber, the German director who won the prize for the best emerging director in Locarno in 2023 for her feature film A beautiful place.
Said Giona A. Nazzaro, artistic director of the Locarno Film Festival: “The Pardi di Domani program has not only won an ever -increasing audience over the years, but has also established itself as one of the essential events for short cinema enthusiasts.
Eddie Bertozzi, head of the Pardi di Domani selection committee, praised “a selection of daring films that immerse us in the heart of the most pressing tensions of today”. He added: “With both established voices and a new discovery, this program triggers a dialogue between various cinematographic experiences and offers a radical invitation to rethink identity, bodies and conflicts under fresh and provocative perspectives.”
The DIMANI crop films will be eligible for a price range. The full range follows.
