Liverpool “ready to bid” for a “machine” of £ 120,000 per week

Liverpool still has his perfect start to the season thanks to Rio Ngumoha, 16, who saved the day late in the match on Monday evening in St James’ Park.

The former star of the Chelsea Academy scored his first high-level goal to save the three points of the Arne Slot team, who was held 2-2 at Ten-Man Newcastle United.

It was another game where one of their new signatures, Hugo Ektike, went on the match sheet. He has now set up in the three competition games for the Reds and made a flying start. The same goes for Florian Wirtz, however, who has not touched the ground.

Liverpool is still active on the transfer market and surely hope that other signatures can start better than Wirtz.

Liverpool’s next summer focus

We do not know how much money is available to slot after spending big on Wirtz and Ekitike. A continuous man is Marc Guehi, with the club that would be in talks on an agreement to sign the Crystal Palace skipper.

Of course, the overall saga of the summer transfer window was to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle. Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Merseysiders are “ready to bid” to sign the Swedish international.

Newcastle is firm, and although the player always dreams of a moving from North East to the northwest, it will not be cheap at all.

The Telegraph reported that the Eddie Howe team will demand up to 150 million pounds sterling for their central advantage.

Why sign Isak could be bad news for Wirtz

There is no doubt that bringing him Isak to Anfield would be the icing at the top of the cake for Liverpool this summer. Described as a “machine” in front of Romano’s goal, he certainly knows where the back of the net is.

During the 2024/25 campaign, Newcastle striker Isak showed why Jamie Carragher said last December that he was the “best striker in the Premier League”.

He put 23 high -flying goals in just 34 appearances, including Thunderbolt against Liverpool, and the winner against the Reds in the Carabao Cup final.

Statistics show why Isak, who earns £ 120,000 per week in St James’ Park, is held in such high esteem.

For example, he recorded an average of 0.75 goals and 0.46 goals per shooting on the target each match last season, which ranked him in the 3% and 12% of the attackers of the Premier League, respectively.

Well, Isak’s arrival could certainly shake the boat and become bad news for their renowned summer signature, Wirtz.

It was not the quick start that many could have expected for German, Alan Shearer saying that the Reds “have trouble bringing him into the game” for the moment.

This does not mean that the former Bayer Leverkusen star is a bad footballer.

After all, he scored and helped 31 goals last season for the German team, and grabbed a decisive pass during his beginnings in Liverpool in the community shield against Crystal Palace.

However, with Wirtz in difficulty, the potential arrival of Isak could cause a tactical change in the slit. The Dutchman can drop the German striker and play both Isak and Ekitike in advance, in pair.

Alexander-Isak-2

In fact, it is something that the boss of Liverpool mentioned in an interview earlier this month. He explained that he considered Ekitike as someone who can “play with another 9”, alluding to Liverpool fans that French could work with Isak.

Ekitike excels in being able to fall deep, to link the game and to create chances. This season, he has already created four games in the Premier League. It is easy to imagine it to bond with a finisher as deadly as Isak.

Although the signature of the Swedish star would be a huge decision for the Reds, it can have an impact on Wirtz’s play time, after what was a disappointing start of his career on Merseyside. For Slot and Liverpool, having such richness of attack options can surely be only good.
