Liverpool are ready to spend 95 million euros to sign Inter Milan defensive pillar Alessandro Bastoni.

Arne Slot has had a phenomenal start to life at Liverpool, guiding them to the Premier League title in his first season in charge. However, things haven’t been so good for the Reds in the current campaign.

They haven’t been consistent enough, and a lot of that has to do with an unstable and inconsistent backline. They are therefore ready to make a significant investment to strengthen their defense. According to a report from Fichajes, the Merseyside club would be ready to invest 95 million euros to recruit Alessandro Bastoni.

Arne Slot wants Alessandro Bastoni

The Italy international has only gone from strength to strength since joining Inter in 2017. He is widely regarded as one of the best defenders in the world, and former World Cup winner Marco Materazzi believes Bastoni has been a “leader” since the day he arrived at the club.

While his contract with the Serie A club runs until the summer of 2028, Liverpool are looking to get him back. The Reds are not satisfied with the performance of their defense. With Ibrahima Konate’s future uncertain and Virgil van Dijk in the final phase of his career, they are ready to make a significant investment in Bastoni.

Given Van Dijk’s recent performances, the Reds decided to make a strategic move to sign a world-class replacement for their club legend. They consider the Italian international to be the ideal person to take his place in the team.

Slot wants a reliable and dominant central defender to lead their backline, and Bastoni is their priority target as he has been doing wonders for Inter for years now. The Merseyside club are ready to invest 95 million euros to bring him to Anfield during the winter transfer window.

With the Reds willing to break the bank for their long-term defensive goal, it will be interesting to see if Inter are willing to part ways with one of their best players mid-season.
