Liverpool now in ‘talks’ to sign Karim Adeyemi after Antoine Semenyo blow

Liverpool are now in “talks” to sign a replacement for Antoine Semenyo in the January transfer window, according to recent reports.
Liverpool should miss Semenyo
With Mohamed Salah at the AFCON and Alexander Isak now with Cody Gakpo on the sidelines, Liverpool are struggling to find attacking options heading into the new year. And in a campaign full of defensive issues, the last thing Arne Slot needed was the emergence of offensive injuries.

Liverpool are preparing to make a series of changes to the transfer market in 2026.
Nevertheless, it is a problem that the Dutchman must resolve with Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards. The Premier League champions are not afraid to spend money, breaking their record twice this summer to sign Isak and Florian Wirtz, but are unlikely to welcome Antoine Semenyo next month.
Despite seeking the winger’s signature, it now appears Manchester City are in pole position to secure his arrival, a frustrating blow for the rest of the Premier League’s chasing clubs.
This takes Liverpool back to square one, with concern over Salah’s long-term future not really helping those at Anfield in that regard. The Egyptian left for the AFCON in a calmer state after being reinstated into the squad, but those at Anfield won’t soon forget his explosive interview.
The Reds should therefore aim to kill two birds with one stone next month and that is where Karim Adeyemi could step in. According to Anfield Index, Liverpool are currently in ‘talks’ to sign Adeyemi with their representatives and could secure his arrival for as little as £20m next month.

The Borussia Dortmund star appears to be a candidate to take Semenyo’s place and who could replace Salah in the long term. At just 22 years old, it’s easy to see why he has caught the attention of players at Anfield, especially if he costs just £20m when the winter window opens.

Replacing Salah, however, is much easier said than done. Semenyo and Adeyemi are struggling to match the incredibly high numbers the Liverpool star has produced over the years – especially the Dortmund star.
But rumors of Adeyemi being on their radar could suggest the Reds are heading in a different direction in the post-Salah era. The Dortmund star represents a classic winger, rather than an inside forward, which would free up space for Isak to take center stage.
Plus, his £85,000-a-week wage demands wouldn’t exactly break the bank at Liverpool, making him once again an ideal option when 2026 rolls around.
