Liverpool consider Oliver Glasner to replace Arne Slot

Liverpool chiefs Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards are both reportedly seriously considering Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner to replace Arne Slot.

There have yet to be any talks with Glasner, who is also being monitored by Manchester United, but he is someone highly regarded at Anfield.

Slot remains safe for now, but is under increasing pressure at Liverpool after a terrible run of form at the start of this season.

If things don’t improve soon, the club is reportedly ready to make a decision, and sources close to the matter believe Glasner is the preferred candidate to take over.

Liverpool view Oliver Glasner as similar to Jurgen Klopp

Glasner has done wonders with Palace, giving the club their first ever trophy last season with victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

The Eagles continue to make great progress under the Austrian tactician, and sources claim Hughes and Edwards see him as someone who shares many similarities with LFC legend Jurgen Klopp.

Glasner has certainly outperformed during his time at Selhurst Park, and that could bode well for him if he wants to move to a bigger club where expectations would be very different.

Is it time for Oliver Glasner to replace Arne Slot?

Slot won the Premier League title in his first season in charge of Liverpool, but things quickly turned sour this season.

The Dutch tactician seems to have no answer to this alarming slump, with Liverpool winning only four times in their last 14 matches in all competitions.

Embarrassing recent results include heavy home defeats to Nottingham Forest and PSV Eindhoven, with their only win in their last five games coming against relegation fighters West Ham.

Man United to step up pursuit of Oliver Glasner

Glasner could also be a useful option for United to consider now after a dip in his performances in recent games.

Things were looking up for the Red Devils when they played three games in a row, including a 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield.

Ruben Amorim will surely be under pressure again, however, as his side are now on just one win from their last five, which included a home draw against West Ham this evening and a home defeat to ten-man Everton last week.

It is understood that the club could now step up their efforts to sign Glasner as Amorim’s replacement, so if Liverpool also decide to make a move, they may have to act quickly.
