Anfield, synonymous with a mattrack
Despite one of the most mystical quarrels that are already more impregnable in European football, Anfield is the stadium where Atlético has lived two of its happiest European nights in recent times.
In 2010, the Rojiblancos obtained, in Merseyside, to sneak into the great final of the Europa League despite the loss of this 2-1 meeting. Forlán, in the extension, neutralized the objectives of Aquilani and Benayoun thanks to the 1-0 obtained at Vicente Calderón. Those of Quie Sánchez Flores took the grand final against Fulham, thus ending a drought of European titles which lasted 48 years.
In 2020, just a few days before the official start of the Cavid-19 pandemic, Atleti again attacked Anfield. He did it against a Liverpool who was the current European champion and it was a cyclone in the Prime Minister. A double history in the extension of Marcos Llorente and a goal by Álvaro Morata certified a 2-3 which copied a gold page in the history of the mattress.
