Antoine Semenyo has been linked with his move away from Bournemouth in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old is in spectacular form and top teams are keen to secure his services during the January transfer window. Liverpool and Arsenal could use more quality and depth on the flanks, and they have identified the Ghana international as a potential target.
It will probably cost around £65m, and it will be interesting to see where it ends up. The asking price would drop to £50 million if clubs are willing to wait until the summer transfer window.
Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider: “Liverpool have been a favorite for him, City are also considering triggering that release clause for around £65m in January as well.
“Arsenal are an admirer and could make a move, Tottenham are an admirer and Manchester United have also shown interest in Semenyo.
“It’s just a question of whether anyone is prepared to activate him and pay that £65m, but they could wait until the summer when the release clause drops to around £50m.
The African striker will be attracted by the idea of joining a big club. He will want to play in the Champions League and fight for trophies. Meanwhile, Liverpool and Arsenal also need more edge in the final third.
The asking price is quite high, but the player has the ability to justify his investment in the future. It will be interesting to see which of the two clubs is ready to take the plunge.
Liverpool are currently going through a disastrous run of form and need a quality signing to bounce back. The African could make a huge difference to them. Semenyo can operate anywhere in the top three, and he will add goals and creativity to the team. He could boost morale at the club if he joins the reigning champions in the coming weeks.
