What is the next step for Apple after the iPhone 17?

We just put an Apple iPhone 17 launch event behind us, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman is already looking at his crystal ball to see the next step for the company. In the power of today on the newsletter, Gurman says that there are at least 10 additional Apple products which should be launched later this year or in the first half of 2026.
Some of these products have been supposed to have been rumors for some time, or are only obvious improvements. The iPad Pro M5, for example, is a question of when not. Although rumors that he will have a second face to face camera for those who prefer to use their iPad in portrait mode are interesting. The iPad Pro could be the first Apple product with an M5 as it should be launched in October, with MacBook Pros and MacBook Airs improved in early 2026.
Gurman also says that an iPhone 17th adapted to a budget is underway for the start of next year. The upgrades on the 16th should be quite minor, most of the handset remaining the same, but going to the new A19 chip inside the iPhone 17 line. The Apple TV and HomePod Mini should also obtain updates next year with processor bumps as well as the support for the new version of Siri and Apple Intelligence features. Same thing with the pro vision, which should obtain an M4 processor and an improved strip, but which remains unchanged while a larger update is in progress for 2027.
The most interesting thing on the list may be the long-term Smart Home code code called J490. The first gossips suggested that the smart display will be launched last March, but clearly the device has never materialized. Now Gurman claims that he should be launched in the spring. He would mark the first new category of major products for Apple for some time, but that he has largely laid the foundations between HomePod and iPad.
Airtag 2, rumors complete Airtag 2 and a pair of new monitors. Updated Airtags will have a better range thanks to a new wireless chip. We know less about monitors, but the code names of J427 and J527 suggest that we could look at a pair of 27 -inch displays. The Pro XDR and Studio Display display both meet over the years, the pro having been published at the end of 2019.
