The Detroit Lions will face the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football for Week 6. The Lions have looked dominant in recent weeks, winning four straight after losing their opener to the Green Bay Packers. The Chiefs struggled a bit early, going 2-3 in five games.

Detroit struggled to move the ball against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, but they have been a dominant offense since. Through five games, they lead the NFL in points (0.569) per game. They also average a league-high 34.8 points per game.

The Lions were one of the best offenses in the NFL once they got into the red zone. They are converting 76% of their red zone drives into touchdowns this season. This figure reaches 85.7% over their last three matches.

The Chiefs haven’t been a bad defense in 2025, but they haven’t been elite either. They rank 16th in points allowed (0.372) per play. They also allow their opponents to score a touchdown on 60% of their shots in the red zone this season.

Detroit is going to score points in this game, which leads us to determine Kansas City’s offensive success. It hasn’t been the best start for their offense, ranking 17th in the NFL in points (.397) per game. But they’re averaging 25 points per game.

It’s a different offense with Xavier Worthy, even though he’s not fully healthy. He has played in each of their last two games and they are averaging 32.5 points per game in those contests. They finished with 37 points against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Lions have struggled defensively in 2025. They rank 18th in points allowed (0.389) per game. They also give up 22.4 points per game. More importantly, the Lions are allowing their opponents to score a touchdown on 66.7% of their red zone trips.

This is the type of total that requires touchdowns on both ends. Fortunately, these are two of the most aggressive fourth-down coaches in the NFL. The Chiefs rank fifth and the Lions eighth in passing rate this season.

Both offenses will need to score points to win this game, and I trust them a lot more than either defense at this point in the season.
