The Lions have re-signed their best players an absolute priority, but an agreement with the defensive winger Aidan Hutchinson has not yet been reached.
Hutchinson and the Lions had positive discussions on a new contract, but are not likely to conclude an agreement before the start of today’s opening, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Last year, Hutchinson started the season in tears and was the favorite of the bets to win the prize for the defensive player of the year of the NFL, but a broken leg cut off its season. Hutchinson is now heading for the fourth year of the five -year recruit contract he signed with the Lions as the second overall choice of the NFL 2022 draft.
Detroit has just re-signed another choice of first round, Jameson Williams, to a contract extension, and other best players they have extended, in particular the offensive plasters Penei Sewell and Taylor Decker, the Large Amah-Ra St. Brown, the quarter-Arrière Jared Goff, the security Kerby Joseph and the defensive line Alim McNeill. An agreement for Hutchinson would be another big step towards maintaining the best players on the current list for years to come.
