Lionel Messi directs the MLS ALL-STAR team, USMNT well represented

Inter Miami players, Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba, were named in the list of major leagues of 26 players, All Star, face the list of the best of Liga MX at Stade Q2 in Austin, Texas, July 23.

The American team that plays the Gold Cup this summer is also well represented, with seven players from the Mauricio Pochettino team selected like All Stars.

The League builds the list thanks to a voting variation of fans, players and the media (12 players), selections of head coach All Star and Austin FC Nico Estévez (12 players) and two choices of the MLS commissioner, Don Garber.

Messi and Alba were both voted in the list of fans, making the team for the second time after having received the honor of the League in 2024. Although Alba participated in the event against Liga MX All Stars in 2024, Messi failed to present an ankle injury while playing in the American COPA final with Argentina.

Despite the list of 2024, Luis Suárez and Sergio Busquets did not obtain the fans votes to join the team or receive a selection of the coach this year.

American players Patrick Agyemang, Max Arfsteten, Sebastian Berhalter, Alex Freeman, Diego Luna, Miles Robinson and Brian White will also join MLS in Austin. AGYEMANG was chosen by the league commissioner to make the trip to Austin, while the rest of the USMNT’s additions vary from the votes of the fans, players and the media and selections of the coach.

Vancouver’s Whitecaps, leader of the Western Conference, had four players appointed to the team.

Garber chose the designated player of San Diego Hirving Lozano as the selection of his second commissioner.

Some of All Stars will also participate in MLS Skills Challenge, which will take place on July 22 at the first quarter stadium.

Liga MX won the last iteration of the All Star match between the two leagues, Triomphing 4-1 on the Lower.com field in Columbus, Ohio in 2024.
