Liam Rosenior Chelsea talks moving forward, says Fabrizio Romano

Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Chelsea’s search for a new manager as they move forward with talks to hire Liam Rosenior.

The Blues parted ways with Enzo Maresca earlier this week, and it quickly looked like Rosenior would be the favorite to take over at Stamford Bridge.

There have inevitably also been one or two other names added to the mix, with Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola linked to Chelsea by the Daily Mail, although Romano’s latest update suggests things are moving forward with Rosenior.

“Chelsea are moving forward with the process to recruit a new head coach as soon as possible and discussions are ongoing. Liam Rosenior remains the leading candidate with talks ongoing,” the Italian journalist posted.

CFC will no doubt hope to achieve this quickly, as it is not ideal for their next match, a tough test against Manchester City, with only Under-21 head coach Callum McFarlane in the dugout as caretaker manager.

Although Rosenior is also not particularly experienced, he has at least impressed during his time in Ligue 1 with his BlueCo-owned compatriot Strasbourg.

What future for Chelsea this season?

If Rosenior takes over at Chelsea, it could still be a great season for the west London giants if they improve on their recent slump.

Additionally, the west London giants have a Carabao Cup semi-final with Arsenal to look forward to, while they are also still in the Champions League.

While this would be a big step forward for Rosenior in his coaching career so far, he has a solid foundation to build on at Chelsea.
