Although the messages have been briefly stopped, they resumed in quantity and hostility around September 2021. The children received 40 to 50 texts per day. The messages were vulgar and included sexually explicit advances to Owen, physical insults towards Lauryn and specific details that only someone close could know.

Jill and Dave both got involved immediately and took Owen’s phone at night to read all the messages and try to understand who sent them. Jill also teamed up with Kendra to read the texts that her daughter received and see what they could do on messages.

Although Jill worked in close collaboration with the local authorities and the high school, all the parties had trouble finding the aggressor because the texts came from random numbers generated by an application.

After almost two years, local police contacted the FBI and Jill put Owen’s phone. They also provided them with all the telephone numbers of all those they knew, and the FBI finally found the IP address of the person who sends the messages, which led them to Kendra.

Jill explained in the documentary that she did not believe at the beginning of the FBI and was convinced that there was no way that Kendra could do it to her and their children.

However, after the authorities approached Kendra in August 2022, she admitted cyber-stalking. She was arrested and charged with two heads of hunting for a minor and two communications leaders with another to commit a crime in December.
