Liam Hemsworth reprises the role of Geralt in the first clip of season 4; New character posters released

Netflix (via IGN) revealed the first preview of the fourth season of The Witcherwhich will mark the debut of Liam Hemsworth in the role of Geralt of Rivia after Man of Steel the surprise departure of star Henry Cavill from the fantasy adventure series.

In the clip, we see the enigmatic vampire known as Regis (Laurence Fishburne) use his abilities to free Geralt and Jaskier from their chains.

Hemsworth opened up about being offered the lead role on the series during a new interview with IGN.

“I was on the set of a movie called Land of Bad, it was late 2022, and my agent just asked me and said, ‘You know, this one came out of nowhere, but what do you think about becoming The Witcher, and I was shocked.’

Showrunner Lauren Hissrich also weighed in on the revamp.

“When we were looking at who could potentially replace Geralt, there is a physical dimension that needs to be there,” Hissrich explained. “You need someone who you can imagine being able to excel in those action scenes, who has such a physical presence that they could be both intimidating in the story, but also, Geralt also has a huge emotional side… What I really liked about Liam’s work that I saw was that he was able to organically blend those two things. He didn’t have physical scenes or emotional scenes. He was able to really carry that specific, I guess I call it soul. He has a soul that he brings to the role…Having that present even in the action scenes where he’s fighting monsters, and it’s the same thing that’s present when he’s having conversations with Ciri or with Yennefer, that’s a really special thing that we were able to capture. And when I looked at some of his work, especially going back to The Hunger Games, that’s something I felt from him.

Check out the preview below, along with some new character posters featuring the season’s main cast.

In season 4 of The Witcher, Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge and their goals become clearer, they come across unexpected allies eager to join their journey.
