After a career on the screen of almost 60 years, the main days of Michael Douglas’s man could be in the past.
At Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, the 2X Oscars winner recently noted that if “something special arises” for him, he has “no real reduction” to return to action in the future.
“I had a very busy career. Now, I have not worked since 2022, deliberately, because I realized that I had to stop, “he explained during a press conference.

“I have been working quite hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who fell dead on the set,” added Douglas. “I am very happy to take a leave. I have no real intentions. But I say that I am not retired, because if something special came, I would go back. But if not, I am very happy. I just like to watch my wife work. ”
The commentary comes after Douglas teased the deadline in December that he “flirts with” the idea of making a film of “good horror” in the near future.
After having undergone chemotherapy for his diagnosis of stadium cancer IV in 2010, Douglas spoke to Kviff that he had “had the chance to continue working”, avoiding a form of language cancer which would have eliminated part of his jaw and limited his ability to speak.
Douglas is currently in Kviff for the 50th anniversary of We flew over the cuckoo nest To present a newly restored version of the film Miloš Forman, which Douglas produced with Saul Zaentz.
