Lhuan-dre Pretorius: South African eclipses Graeme Pollock as the youngest Centurion in Proteas

With a style stick and frame that has more than a suspicion of old South Africa skipper Graeme Smith, the Trapue Left looks intended for great things.

Born in Potchefstroom in March 2006, he studied in the South African private school system and quickly found his way in professional game.

He was the top scorer of the Cricket World Cup under 19 in 2024, with 287 points in six games with an average of 57.40.

Shortly after having made its national debut in South Africa for the Titans at the age of 17 and drew attention later in the tournament with 82 out of 43 balls against Guteng.

Pretorius then made 120 in his first class start for Titans against Warriors in December 2024 before an impressive blow during his beginnings in the SA20 led to a wider recognition.

Pretorius marked a first first of all in career 97 T20 for Paarl Royals in January 2025, a round that drew the attention of England Captain Ben Stokes.

In May 2025, Pretorius was called to the Indian Premier League by the Royals of Rajasthan to replace the injured Nitish Rana and appeared in a match as an impact player but did not beat.

After the IPL, Pretorius played three games for the Hampshire in the T20 explosion, having signed as a player abroad in February, where he made dozens of one, 37 and 28.
