Lestat becomes a complete diva in 3 minutes of footage of the vampire Lestat

It’s Lestat’s show now, and you better prepare yourself for a whole new vibe, because you’ll “feel like Lestat just hijacked the show,” as showrunner Rolin Jones puts it. Indeed, AMC debuted a detailed first look at “Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat” at NYCC on Friday, and it’s every bit as tantalizing and twisted as you’d expect from the iconic vampire.

“The Vampire Lestat” picks up where Season 2 of “Interview With the Vampire” left off, with a twist: this time, it’s Lestat’s turn to tell the story through his own flamboyant and poetic perspective.

Adapted from Anne Rice’s novel of the same name from her flagship ‘Vampire Chronicles’ series, the series promises to bring all of Lestat’s fury and fabulousness to the screen and the new trailer offers a glimpse into different chapters of this sprawling saga, from a glimpse of Jennifer Elhe as Lestat’s mother Gabrielle to the sequel to Daniel Molloy’s release of “Interview With the Vampire.”

And of course, many Lestats become divas, on and off stage. The images contain plenty of quick cuts with lots of new and familiar faces, as well as snippets of some highly anticipated scenes from the book, so get your pause button ready.

The new images also feature some more extended sequences. First, a catch-up between Louis and Daniel Molloy that gives a taste of how the characters and the world at large reacted to the revelations in “Interview With the Vampire.” And then, a delicious argument between Louis and Lestat. And who should they fight for? Armand, of course.

In addition to the picture debut, AMC also announced some big casting news at NYCC, including “The Woman King” star Sheila Atim as Akasha, the former vampire queen previously played by Aaliyah in the 2002 film adaptation of “Queen of the Damned.” The series also adds “Schitt’s Creek” star Noah Reid as Larry, Ryan Kattner as Salamander, Seamus Patterson as Alex and Sarah Swire as TC.

“The Vampire Lestat” will air on AMC in 2026.
