Legional Harlem spritage: 2 people who died among 58 diagnosed in the epidemic since July 25

Harlem, Manhattan (WABC) – According to health officials.
The New York Health Department provided an update on their survey on a community group in Legionnaires in the center of Harlem on Monday, linked to postal codes 10027, 10030, 10035, 10037 and 10039, and Limitères communities.
So far, they say that 58 people have been diagnosed with illness since July 25, killing two people.
Managers claim that the sanitation required by the ministry has been completed for the 11 towers of cooling with initial positive screening results showing the presence of Legionella Pneumophila, a type of bacteria that causes legionaries.
People living or working in the region with pseudo-Grippal symptoms, such as cough, fever, chills, muscle pain or difficulty breathing are invited to immediately contact a health care provider.
Managers warn that it is particularly important for people who are more at risk, including 50 years and over, cigarette smokers and people with chronic pulmonary disease or compromised immune systems, to obtain care if they have symptoms.
What to know about the disease
Legionaries’ disease is a type of pneumonia caused by the Legionella bacteria, which grows in lukewarm water.
People can get legionaries’ disease, breathing in water vapor that contains Legionella bacteria.
Legionaries’ disease cannot be transmitted from one person to another and can be treated with antibiotics. The complications of the disease are less likely that the previous treatment begins.
Legionaries’ disease can be caused by plumbing systems where conditions are favorable to the growth of Legionella, such as cooling towers, whirlpool spas, swirl baths, humidifiers, hot water tanks and evaporative condensers of large air conditioning systems.
