Legend of Zelda Movie First Look Reveals Live-Action Link and Zelda

The first look at Sony and Nintendo’s live-action “Legend of Zelda” film is here.

Images released Monday on the Nintendo Today app offer a glimpse of young actors Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who play the magical Princess Zelda and the green-clad swordsman Link, respectively, in the film adaptation of the beloved video game. The photos show Link and Zelda standing in a green field, Zelda with her iconic bow and arrows and both actors sporting full costumes with Hylian ears.

Wes Ball, director of “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” and “The Maze Runner,” is directing the live-action “Legend of Zelda,” which will be released in theaters on May 7, 2027.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, who is producing the film, revealed the casting of Link and Zelda over the summer, writing in a social media post: “I am happy to announce that for the live-action ‘The Legend of Zelda’ film, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I can’t wait to see them both on the big screen.”

English actress Bragason is known for her roles in the BBC One series “Three Girls” and “The Jetty,” as well as Disney+’s “Renegade Nell.” Last year she starred in Euros Lyn’s vampire comedy “The Radleys.” Ainsworth, who is also English, was the voice of Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action “Pinocchio” and played Miles in the Netflix series “The Haunting of Bly Manor.” He also stars in the Canadian comedy series “Son of a Critch” and appeared in an episode of Netflix’s “The Sandman.”
