Leeds United wishes Nick Pope from Newcastle United

Leeds United would have explored the possibility of signing the goalkeeper from Newcastle United, Nick Pope, while they are preparing for Life in the Premier League.
According to a Daily Mail report, the whites identified the Pope as a potential summer transfer target in the context of their efforts to strengthen the key areas of the team.
After obtaining the promotion of the championship, Leeds is determined to avoid another short stay in the elite, and the strengthening of the position of goalkeeper has become one of their main priorities, in particular after the poor performances of Illan Meslier.

With the manager Daniel Farke eager to build a solid spine for the team, an experienced goalkeeper and tested in the Premier League like Pope could be a vital addition.
The pope was the goalkeeper of the first choice since his arrival from Burnley in 2022.
However, his future in St. James’ Park is now uncertain, because Newcastle continues to prosecute James Trafford, very well rated from Burnley.
The Magpies initially agreed to bring Trafford last August, and a successful decision for the young English goalkeeper this summer could open the way to the exit of Pope.
Although it is under contract until June 2026, the Pope can be deemed in surplus to the requirements if Newcastle secures Trafford and focuses on long -term reconstruction.

Any potential agreement would depend on both Newcastle movements on the transfer and flexibility market of Leeds.
