Leeds eye new move in 2026 to sign ‘perfect’ Championship star for Farke

After getting off to a strong start in the Premier League, newly promoted Leeds United have reportedly set their sights on signing Championship star Daniel Farke.
Where Leeds should prioritize in 2026
While it’s a solid start, Leeds still have plenty of work to do if they are to retain their Premier League status at first time of asking, and the January transfer window will play a major role in that.
After missing out on several big goals this summer, Los Blancos would do well to make up for lost time and put the finishing touches on Farke’s squad when the winter window opens.
The big question will be who arrives, if anyone.
Reports cited Jens Petter Hauge last week, and there is no doubt that the Bodo/Glimt winger would be an interesting addition.
Revealing the news, transfer journalist Graeme Bailey told Leeds United News that those at Elland Road were aiming to sign the 20-year-old.
“One name they like is Jens Petter Hauge,” Bailey said.
“He’s on the radar. He’s the one Leeds looked at, because the Red Bulls looked at him.”
If reinforcements are to arrive, it is likely that Farke’s attack will receive a much-needed boost.
The German has made no secret of his desire for attacking talent this summer, but has observed that Leeds have failed to get their main targets over the line.
Although Leeds are unlikely to break their transfer record in January, they should look to add some breakthrough arrivals in search of security, before spending money this summer.
By securing their place in the Premier League for a second consecutive campaign, they would put themselves in a strong position to finally welcome an attacking midfielder they have been chasing.
Leeds now eyeing Gustavo Hamer move in 2026
According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Leeds are considering signing Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United this summer, with a January deal unlikely as things stand.
“I think they will definitely always be interested in someone like Gustavo Hamer. He’s a top player, one of the best players in the league,” O’Rourke told Football Insider.
“He has already been on Leeds’ radar. It remains to be seen whether Leeds would be willing to spend the big money that Sheffield United would demand for Hamer.”
After being interested in the Sheffield United star this summer, Leeds could finally land their man a year later.
If the Blades fail to secure promotion to the top flight, then keeping a player as talented as Hamer would prove even more difficult, especially if Leeds look to take advantage of the fact that he shares an agent with Wilfried Gnonto.
Hailed as ‘perfect’ by Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder for the way he has handled transfer speculation in the past, it will be interesting to see how hard Hamer pushes for an exit if his side continue to struggle in the Championship and Leeds return.
The 28-year-old has been a mainstay of Wilder’s midfield, starting in almost every second division game so far, and he was just as imperative last season.
Hamer scored an incredible 18 goals in 44 league appearances in 24/25, playing a key role as the Blades narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League, thanks to a play-off final defeat to Sunderland at Wembley.
