Against Tokyo Modern, Rental Family follows an American actor (Oscars winner, Brendan Fraser) who has trouble finding his goal until he won an unusual concert: working for a Japanese family agency “Rental Family”, playing roles of replacements for foreigners. While he immerses himself in the worlds of his new customers, he begins to train real links that soon blur the boundaries between performance and reality. Confronting the moral complexities of his work, he rediscovers the goal, belonging and the silent beauty of the human connection.
