LeBron James didn’t hesitate to make a big gesture to Kiyan Anthony as the Syracuse star reveals a special relationship with ‘Unc’

Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan Anthony, has been one of Syracuse’s highlights. The 6-foot-5 guard has slowly proven he has star quality. On Tuesday, the latest episode of Complex’s “Sneaker Shopping” dropped on YouTube and featured the young basketball star.

During the episode, Anthony revealed that he had a special relationship with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James. Anthony’s father and James were drafted the same year, 2003, and are close friends off the field. The Syracuse star recounted how he contacted the four-time champion for a pair of shoes, which he received almost immediately.

“I think the Bron 20s came out about two months ago, I still didn’t have a pair. They were sold out everywhere,” Anthony said (timestamp: 2:52). “So I just texted him myself. It was the first time I think I ever messaged him… He responded right away and sent him my address. [The] the next day, there were couples.

“There were about four or five pairs, different colors. I just texted him, said, ‘Thank you.’

Host Joe La Puma jokingly asked if Anthony called James “unc” when he contacted the star. The 18-year-old basketball star confirmed yes.

“Yeah, I said. ‘Hey, buddy, I need some shoes.’

Kiyan Anthony was fortunate that his father was close friends with the four-time MVP. This allowed him to get the latest signature shoe and not miss out on the trend.

Kiyan Anthony reveals his mother is a bigger sneakerhead than Carmelo Anthony

Most basketball players know sneakers well. Some of them even keep collections, just like NBA veteran PJ Tucker. However, some people are more interested in the world of sneakers than athletes.

Kiyan Anthony revealed that his mother, La La Anthony, is arguably the biggest sneakerhead in their family. She was also interviewed by La Puma five years ago about her sneaker stories. The celebrity couple’s son confirmed that La La takes her sneaker collection seriously.

The young basketball star said La La recently moved to a new house and one of her priorities was a dedicated floor for her shoes.

“His main thing was, ‘Yo, I need a whole floor for shoes.’ You go to the basement, it’s a whole floor full of shoes,” Anthony said. “I think she might have more shoes than my dad, which is crazy.”

Kiyan Anthony said her mother knew where to find the shoes she wanted. He also said she wouldn’t stop until she got the pair she was looking for.
