“Landman’s future gets a huge update beyond season 3

Taylor Sheridan Landman it’s not just about surviving – it’s about quietly securing a long-term future. While Paramount+ has already renewed the West Texas oil drama for Season 3, a new update suggests the series could be here for the long haul, with Billy Bob Thornton potentially steering the ship for years to come.

Inspired by the Booming city podcast, Landman delves deep into the brutal, high-stakes world of the oil industry, with Thornton’s Tommy Norris serving as the series’ moral gray area – part fixer, part survivor, part emotional wreck. Since its premiere in 2024, the series has continued to gain momentum, blending cartel violence, corporate warfare, and deeply messy family drama in a way that only Sheridan can truly do.

Season 1 ended on a wild note, killing Jon Hamm’s Monty Miller and cast Tommy as president of M-Tex – just before he was kidnapped and brutally beaten by a cartel boss. Season 2 somehow upped the ante even more, expanding the ensemble and giving Demi Moore’s Cami a real narrative weight. And the public turned out in large numbers: the premiere of season 2 ended 9.2 million views in its first two daysmaking it Paramount+’s most-watched original series premiere.

But the biggest revelation might be what’s to come After Season 3. Thornton confirmed in November 2025 that he had signed on for four to five seasons of Landmantelling The Hollywood Reporter that he will stay “as long as I can” or “until the story is finished.” Translation: this is not a quick prestige pit stop. Sheridan and Paramount+ see clearly Landman as a multi-season anchor – and Tommy Norris as his backbone.

Is “Landman” worth watching?

While season 2 has an audience score of 43% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear that viewers are still watching it in droves. Collider’s review of the second season summarizes:

Season 2 of Landman finally shows more promising signs after his first three episodes, Moore already delivering a solid performance for a complex character. While Garcia is still a “mysterious character with hidden motives” in the series, his presence is also clearly felt. Between his inclusion and a major new narrative for Cooper, there are considerable opportunities for heightened stakes, character growth, and new drama. It’s impossible to say what LandmanThe real trajectory will be this season, but we are already a little closer to a well that hits than the first time. All that remains is to make a successful landing.
