Lainey Wilson and Sierra Ferrell Join Mumford & Sons on The Nashville Show

Ferrell joined the band for a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You,” while Wilson stayed for “Things a Man Shoulda Know” and “Awake My Soul.”
Mumford & Sons felt at home in Nashville during their headlining show at Bridgestone Arena. The band welcomed surprise guests Lainey Wilson and Sierra Ferrell to the stage for some special changes to their usual setlist.
Ferrell joined the band around the middle of the set for a cover of Townes Van Zandt’s “If I Needed You.” Wilson appeared later in the set just before the encore. They started with his own record “Things a Man Shoulda Know,” then followed up with a one-mic duet from the group. Don’t sigh anymore deep cut “Awake My Soul”.
“I’m having the time of my life, I’m these guys’ biggest fan,” Wilson told the crowd. “My heart is so full right now. The love these guys put in tonight, I hope you all feel it back.”
In September, Wilson and Mumford & Sons performed “Things a Man Shoulda Know” at the New Orleans stop on the Railroad Revival tour. They also treated the audience to a folk, banjo-accompanied rendition of the Shania Twain classic “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.”
“Can it be Mumford & Sons + a new sister now?” Wilson joked in an Instagram post. “I made music and lifelong friends with all these people in New Orleans yesterday.”
Mumford & Sons will continue their tour in support of their latest LP, Rushmerein Austin, followed by stops in Tulsa and Omaha which will conclude the North American portion of the race. This week, the group will also share “Rubber Band Man,” their upcoming collaboration with Hozier. Mumford & Sons premiered the record live in Buffalo, although the official release is scheduled for October 24. The two groups last performed together at Austin City Limits in 2023 when Hozier joined the band for “Awake My Soul.”
