Kristen Stewart expresses interest in directing a ‘Twilight’ remake

Hot on the heels of her directorial debut, Kristen Stewart has indicated she might be convinced to revisit the beloved vampire franchise that catapulted her into the upper echelons of teen stardom.
While walking the carpet at the Palm Springs Film Festival, The water timeline Helmer was interviewed by Entertainment tonight if she ever wanted to revisit one of her past projects behind the camera lens, like Dusk.
Stewart, whose child acting career entered a new stratosphere following the release of the 2008 film based on Stephenie Meyer’s popular novel series, praised each filmmaker’s respective films (in order: Catherine Hardwicke’s original, Chris Weitz’s New moonthat of David Slade Eclipse and Bill Condon, who tackled the project in two parts breaking Dawn payments).
“I love what all the directors did with the films,” the Oscar nominee said, “but they were so themselves, weird, a little squirrelly and so present in that time when they didn’t really know what they were yet, before they exploded.”
She continued, full of ideas and then convinced: “I know; imagine if we had a huge budget and a lot of love and support, I don’t know. I would love to re-adapt – yeah, of course I’ll do the remake. I’m doing it, I’m committed to it.”
Certainly, there would be an appetite for the redux: Fathom Entertainment’s re-release of Summit/Lionsgate Dusk — a movie marathon re-release tied to the 20th anniversary of the first book — took in $1.55 million at the box office on its first day around Halloween. YouTube, a must-have every year when it comes to rewatching, also released the films for free on its platform before the theatrical re-release. Generally speaking, the entire big screen franchise is among the most financially successful YA properties, grossing over $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office.
In 2024, it was announced that Netflix had placed a straight-to-series order for a Dusk animated series based on the 2020 companion novel by Stephenie Meyer Midnight Suna retelling of the events of the story from the point of view of the vampire Edward Cullen (portrayed by Robert Pattinson in the films).
