“ Kpop Demon Hunters ”, the Saudi game fuel all that matters to the discussion

A great power panel at the All that Matters conference in Singapore brought together sports, games, music, marketing and emerging technology to debate what motivates entertainment now – and what will shape its future.
Moderate by the CEO of brand Jasper Donat, the discussion featured Amanda Staveley, CEO of PCP Capital Partners; Akshat Rathee, Managing Director of Nodwin Gaming; Gita de Beer, the global strategy and the brands of incubator lead to Heineken; Rebecca Barkin, co-founder and CEO of Lamina1; And Calvin Wong, CEO of Universal Music Group Southeast Asia and Korea.
Staveley, who, with her husband, has built a world investment portfolio in the media and sport, said his group collects a dedicated sports and media fund. “The only thing that is consistent is that sport is fabulous content,” she noted, adding that young demographic data require the delivery of “point” and the commitment of fans. It reported the imminent change to direct models to consumers, saying that it could take “six, seven billion pounds” (8-9.4 billion dollars) to fully integrate the level of Premier League football.
Rathee highlighted the seismic changes underway in games. “For the first time, there are more young players on planet earth than older players,” he said, noting that the median age drops approximately seven months each year. He also underlined “power in the game of China to Saudi Arabia”, in addition to a passage from the PC to the consumption of mobile first.
At one point, Rathee said that “everything will be on this”, while making a gesture to his glasses. He explained that Meta, Google and Amazon are all preparing new smart glasses, pointing out what he considers to come to come from mobile devices. He predicted that the next generation of titles in small groups would come from fans themselves, citing the story of “Counter-Strike” and “Dota” as mods which have become franchises of several decades. For the future, he argued that “the highest level of premium experiences would become physical, but they will be based on digital camaraderie”, pointing phenomena such as Comic-Con and “Kpop Demon Hunters Huns” as examples of communities born online which are strengthening in gatherings of the real world.
De Beer has identified three key factors for brands: speed, location and attention. “For world brands, they really need to build global brands, but with a very hard local soul,” she said, warning that consumers’ attention has now been reduced to “less than a second”.
Barkin stressed the importance of decentralization and to give creators and fans an interest in IP. “For too long, intellectual property creators have sacrificed their rights in exchange for visibility,” she said. Lamina1, co-founded with the science fiction writer Neal Stephenson, develops platforms based on blockchain aimed at restructuring the content economy. “The idea that you might have a direct connection with fans as a holder of intellectual property and work with them to make global construction … with a better economy and an element of equity-that’s what we are focusing on,” she added.
Wong underlined the protection of copyright and the development of long -term artists as a central UMG strategy. “If the ecosystem does not allow this to happen, music will become much more boring in the future,” he said, referring to the development of artists of several years like Sabrina Carpenter. He underlined the world rise in Asian talents, notably the rapper of Malays of Def Jam Abangsapau, who performed during the event, the Indian rapper Hanumankind and the Thai acts selling Japan. Wong has also highlighted UMG’s new “Music For Wellness” initiatives, using pop songs with artists’ permission to facilitate concentration, relaxation and sleep.
Everything that matters, which has started as a musical conference, and who grew up to encompass sports, games, web3, marketing and content, is to celebrate its 20th edition this year.
