KPop Demon Hunters 2 is on the way – here’s when it might release

Demon Hunters KPop 2 is officially on the way, with Netflix striking deals with the animated film’s directors, Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and Sony for the sequel, sources confirm to The Hollywood Reporter. However, talent deals are still being finalized.
Bloombergwho first broke the news, suggests the sequel will arrive in 2029 – an unsurprising timeline given the length between other animated films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Versereleased in 2018, and its sequel Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Versereleased in 2023.
Demon Hunters KPop has become Netflix’s most popular title. The project chronicles the adventures of Huntrix, a three-member K-pop girl group who also fight underworld monsters. In addition to topping the Netflix charts, its soundtrack spent several weeks in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. THR first announced in August that a sequel film was in talks at Netflix and Sony Animation.
The film has now had two theatrical releases for the sing-along version. It recently returned to theaters this past Halloween weekend at AMC, Regal and Cinemark theaters across the country, as well as several chains around the world. The sing-along movie was previously in theaters over an August weekend, grossing between $17 million and $18 million at the box office. (Netflix did not report revenue.)
The singers behind Huntrix – Ejae, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna – have been busy ahead of the upcoming awards season, where the film is considered the frontrunner in terms of animated feature and original song. The trio took their chart-topping song on the road for live performances on Saturday evening live And The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. It was announced earlier this week that the women of Huntrix would perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
