Korbin Albert of the USWNT passing from PSG to OL Lyonnes

The United States midfielder Korbin Albert accepted terms to join eight European champions OL Lyonnes on a free transfer, a source knowing the agreement confirmed in ESPN.

Albert joined Lyonnes after two and a half seasons at the French rival Paris Saint-Germain.

Last year, the 21 -year -old was part of the USWNT’s Olympic Olympic Gold Medal. She scored in the group phase and started 1-0 victory against Brazil in the final.

Albert has 25 traffic jams for the USWNT. She is with the USWNT U23 team in the current window, alongside other players with a senior team experience like Jaedyn Shaw.

Outside the field, Albert came under the spotlight in March 2024, when publications on social networks of its anti-LGBTQA + allegedly supported content, and a comment that shed light on the old Achille torn by Winger Megan Rapinoe, surfaced online. Albert apologized in a declaration on social networks.

“I sat with her, I had several conversations with her in and around these things to make sure that this personal development piece is there,” said USWNT coach Emma Hayes in November.

Albert will join his colleague American midfielder and Captain of the USWNT Lindsey Heaps in Lyonnes, who announced on Monday Jonatan Giráldez as his new head coach.

Joe Montemurro has just left after only a year as a chief coach of Lyonnes to play the same role with the Australian national women’s team.

Giráldez left Washington’s mind after less than a year to join Lyonnes, who shares Michele Kang as owner.

The French store Le Parisien was the first to report the move from Albert to Lyon.

Lyonnes, whose women’s team has recently been renamed from Olympique Lyonnais, won 18 of the last 19 titles in the French League. They are eight champions of Europe – a record – but have not won since 2022.
