“Know America. Love America ‘: Education DEPT announcement tpusa team-up after kirk assassination

The Ministry of Education (ED) announced on Wednesday a historic partnership with Turning Point USA to help civic education on a national scale with the approach of its 250th anniversary.

Although the partnership is already underway before the assassination of the founder of Turning Point, Charlie Kirk, the effort is now more critical than ever, said the leaders of the organization at a press conference announcing the decision. The America 250 Civics Education Coalition will show off more than 40 other organizations, notably Hillsdale College, the America First Policy Institute (AFPI) and Moms for Liberty.

“While we are approaching semi-printing in 2026, we are faced with a reality that gives reflection: civic knowledge, commitment and constitutional literacy among our young people, I will say that it is in decline, I can almost say that it is absent,” said the Secretary of Education Linda McMahon during the press conference. “We really have to refocus on this subject.”

McMahon referred to a recent survey which revealed that less than half of generation Z is proud to be American. A study by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation revealed that more than 70% of Americans failed a basic quiz in civic literacy. The coalition will provide resources to teachers, parents, home educators, churches and others for the education of civic literacy, including tool kits and videos of some of the coalition partners. The mission of the coalition is “to rekindle the fires of patriotism, to strengthen civic literacy and to inspire Americans of all ages to understand and cherish our founding principles”.

The currency of the coalition is “Know America. Love America ”.

“It is essential that we educate our students on the true history of our country,” said Erika Donalds, president of the Center for Education Opportunity de l’Afpi. “If our students really understood the constitution of the United States, they would never think of saying that violence in response to speech would be good.”

A recent report of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE) published one day before the assassination of Kirk revealed that around a third of students believe that violence is an acceptable way to stop a speech on the campus with which they disagree.
