Only nine players have never accomplished the feat in the NBA – Larry Bird, Mark Price, Reggie Miller, Steve Nash, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Malcom Brogdon and Kyrie Irving. Irving, who of course plays alongside Thompson in Dallas, could give him some advice to reach the goal.
Will Klay Thompson join the 50/40/90 club?
Klay pulled 40% beyond the arc or better in all seasons except three of his NBA career. It pulled 90% or better from the free throw line in three distinct years. However, he has not yet drawn 50% or better in the field, his career summit being 48.8% – which he accomplished in 2017-2018.
Thompson had a 2024-25 respectable season – his first campaign in Dallas. However, he drew a career at 41.2% of the field. His percentage of shooting from 39.1 to three points was the third worst mark of his career. Thompson recorded the second best percentage of throwing francs in his career, pulling 90.5% of the line.

Joining the 50/40/90 club will be difficult for Thompson at this stage of his career. Although he has regularly improved his franc launch shooting, Thompson’s efficiency on the ground has dropped. When Thompson is determined to do something, however, doubting it is a risky thing to do.
Klay Thompson will do everything he can to bounce back and find more consistency with his ground shot.
