Best low cholesterol snacks

Make healthy choices outside your house

Despite your best planning, you can find yourself without eating anything. On a long journey, your only option for the grocery store could be a service station or a convenience store. Suddenly, you are limited to prepackaged articles and dubious fruits. How can you still nibble in a responsible manner?

Samantha Schraeter, RD, CDCES, a dietitian recorded in lifestyle medicine at NYC Health + HospitalS, Lincoln in New York, says to watch the packaging labels and make sure that the snack has at least 3 grams (g) of fibers.

“Help with high fiber snacks [reduce] cholesterol, and [fiber] Also increases satiety, “says Schraeter.” If you feel more satisfied after your snack, this can also help prevent overeating. »»

If you like energy bars, Schraeter recommends lärabars, protein bars of Valley nature or browse power snacks.

If you need the comforting crunch of a chip, you can find chips of fiber -rich vegetables and low sodium in health food stores and high -end supermarkets. Cabbage chibs, freshly popular popcorn made with olive oil or canola, nuts and crunchy roasted peas can also be excellent options.

The portions individually wrapped from some of the snacks mentioned above, such as Houmous and Guacamole, are excellent, but Schraetter recommends watching the nutrition label before buying.
