Kim Kardashian’s Daughter North Makes Instagram Debut After Father Kanye Slams Kids’ Social Media Use

Kim Kardashian’s eldest daughter, North West, made her Instagram debut under her own account name on Friday.
The 12-year-old started her Instagram career with a blurry shot of herself as well as a few posts added to her Stories where she was joined by two of her friends.
The trio recorded a selfie video and posed for a photo showing off their blue, green and pink hair.
In her biography, she claims that her account is “run by her parents” Kim, 45, and her father Kanye West. However, the move came as a surprise to fans, as many remember that her famous father, 48, was adamantly against his children being on social media.

In a 2022 rant, the “Carnival” hitmaker slammed the SKIMS founder for “upsetting” him by allowing their daughter to post videos on TikTok.
“I’m his father and I know you don’t respect fathers and the idea of family. [but] I said I don’t allow my daughter to be used by TikTok, by Disney. I have a say,” he said in an Instagram clip at the time.
The rapper’s outburst came after North, who was 8 at the time, made a TikTok of herself singing MGK’s song, “Emo Girl,” alongside her cousin, Penelope Disick.
“I already told you about this tik tok thing,” West, 44, captioned the Instagram post.

“Now my 8 year old daughter is singing here, she fell in love with an emo girl. Leftists don’t want fathers to have no say in our children. [sic] lives,” he continued.
In recent months, however, North has started shocking her followers with some of her fashion stunts.
In October, she debuted a bold new look that included fake facial tattoos – including a star under her right eye and her name in cursive on her left cheek – blue braids in her hair and blue contact lenses.
As accessories, she wore a black grillz on her teeth and a fake septum ring.

In September, she and her mother drew criticism after revealing she had pierced her middle finger.
Kardashian defended her daughter’s freedom to express herself in her October “Call Her Daddy” interview where she explained that her eldest had an affinity for experimenting with her style.
“It’s really hard and it’s really interesting because all the kids wear the same things,” Kardashian explained, adding, “But then my daughter tries to wear it and I’m like ‘okay, we’ll never wear that again.’ Unfortunately, we made this mistake in front of the whole world.
