EXCLUSIVE: The growing producers Katherine Romans and Charlie Trisman officially launched Madhouse Films, a new independent production company with a mission to center under-represented voices and repel creative borders through cinema and television.
“In Madhouse, we defend stories that o ff ers new perspectives on cultural conversations, illuminating the nuanced gray areas of our social and cultural landscape,” said the co-founders in a declaration on the deadline. “We believe that exceptional creativity comes from the wild imagination and we strive to promote voices and stories led by women, queer and bipoc.”
Madhouse opens with a multi-generes slate which includes narrative characteristics, as well as documents and shorts developed in collaboration with emerging and established talents. Currently in the post, the film produced by the Oscar winner, Diablo Cody, focuses on members of a cult of witch women. He has already been picked up for distribution by IFC Films and Shudder and Stars Lili Reinhart, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Lola Tung and Emma Chamberlain.

Also in development is Huckleberry BabeA contemporary Western thriller marking a second outing of feature films with Alloway, who tells us: “I love the way the work of Charlie and Katherine’s brains. They have an incredible creative intuition, ideas and an amazing talent to support other artists. With Madhouse, they build a house for risk taking and stories that prove reflection – I am more delighted to work with them. ”
Romans and Trisman met in 2013 while he was studying the British American Drama Academy in Oxford and then received AMFs from the American Conservatory Theater. Based on a history of performance and development, they have formed Madhouse as a space for the directors to create a work without compromise with long -term support behind them.
Already, Madhouse has carried out several short projects which report the creative management of the company. Hahn and featuring Booboo Stewart and Jamie Clayton, who was presented at first at the Lower East Side Film Festival; FAWNDirected by Emily Everhard; Uncle JohnnyDirected by Margaux Susi; And Copy, saveA speculative short film by Alyssa Loh, which was selected for the Tribeca X Chanel 2024 via its objective program. The work of the company in narrative television includes the next independent pilot Too romanticC, written and directed by Talia Light Rake.
