The Open: Scottie Scheffler takes the big races in the last day at the Royal Portrush after Rory McILroy impressed on the floor at home | News Golf

Scottie Scheffler got closer to a second major victory of the season and a third stage of the Grand Colem in a career by taking a lead of four strokes in the last round of the open.
The world n ° 1 held an advance halfway and has never abandoned control in another impressive display, a 67 without Bogey lifting it 14 sous and giving full control to Royal Portrush.
Scheffler found an Eagle-Birdie race to move forward on the partner to play Matt Fitzpatrick and followed two impressive outs on his new back by adding another birdie, giving him a dominant advantage on the China Haotong Li.
Fitzpatrick briefly jumped with Scheffler, but heads around five shots in the third day, while Rory McILroy – continued a second major victory of the season – jumped in the fourth draw after having delighted the fans of the house with a third round 66.
McILroy shares fourth place with Tyrrell Hatton, Chris Gotterup and Harris English on eight under, with Scheffler now about to match the efforts of Xander Schauffele – seven strokes in eighth – winning the PGA championship and the open of the same season.
