Kevin Spacey’s return may have been derailed as SUPERMAN RETURNS actor faces new sexual assault accusations

It looks like Kevin Spacey’s big return to Hollywood will have to wait.
At one point, Spacey was one of Tinsel Town’s biggest stars, delivering widely acclaimed performances in areas such as American Beauty, LA Confidential, The Usual Suspectsand much more. In 2006, he played Lex Luthor in The Return of Superman.
That all changed in 2017 when he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple men.
Spacey was ultimately acquitted in 2023, but remains a highly controversial figure. Many believe he was lucky that the trial went in his favor, and aside from SA’s allegations, several people who worked with the actor over the years have claimed that he was an utterly unpleasant bully who treated those around him without any respect.
Regardless, Spacey clearly felt it was time to attempt a comeback, revealing that he was currently in the process of trying to get his career back on track during a recent interview with The telegraph.
“We’re in contact with some extremely powerful people who want to get me back to work. And that will happen in due time. But I will also say that what I think the industry seems to be waiting for is to get permission, from someone who is in a position of enormous respect and authority.”
Spacey went on to say that his financial situation was “not great” and that he “literally didn’t have a house” (although he has since claimed he was misquoted).
“[The] the costs over the past seven years have been astronomical. I received very few inputs and everything came out. […] You get through it. In a strange way, I feel like I’m back where I started, which is that I just went to where the work was. Everything is stored and hopefully at some point, if things continue to improve, I can decide where I want to settle down again.”
Now, Spacey faces a new round of allegations. According to BBC Newsthree men sued the actor, claiming he assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. A tentative trial date of October 12, 2026 has been suggested.
One of the men previously sued Spacey in 2022, but the case was stayed during his criminal trial. The man, who was granted anonymity by the court, claims he “suffered psychiatric damage and other financial losses” as a result of the alleged assault. Another accuser, Ruari Cannon, has waived his right to anonymity and alleges that Spacey groped him at a party in 2013 while he was performing in a play at the Old Vic, where Spacey was artistic director.
It obviously remains to be seen how this plays out, but these new allegations certainly aren’t going to help Spacey get the “permission” he’s seeking to return to work at the highest level.
