Kevin Durant and Amen Thompson face off in NBA 2K26

Rockets teammates test their chemistry in a friendly NBA 2K26 showdown, mixing competition, banter and respect.
Kevin Durant And Amen Thompson are used to playing together on the Houston court. But that day, the Rockets teammates sat side by side in front of a television, controllers in hand, ready to see who runs the show NBA 2K26.
Before the trash talk started pouring in, there was real excitement in the room. Durant, now Houston’s veteran superstar, talked about how smooth his transition to the Rockets has been since signing with the team over the summer. The first two weeks of the season, he said, have already been marked by close games that have forced the group to tighten up.
For Thompson, sharing a locker room and virtual court with Durant still feels surreal. He called KD a “legend,” and the third-year Rocket admitted he’d never played with anyone at that level before. The learning curve has been steep at best. What stands out most, he says, is Durant’s work ethic: Every rep is the speed of the game, every detail counts.

Even on the sticks, KD approaches things like a perfectionist.
From there, the conversation bounced between gameplay and real life. Both players have played 2K for most of their lives – Thompson since 2K10 with Kobe Bryant on the cover, Durant up to the original 2K with Allen Iverson. They remembered childhood fantasy drafts, broken controllers, and family tensions when games got too competitive. Durant admitted he once had to control himself after nearly breaking a television: “I was like, you know what? I’m getting too mad at 2K. Let me just figure this out.”
On NBA 2K26 As such, teammates agreed that the shooting seems smoother and faster this year, especially in the Park. Durant shouted out how accurately 2K captures players’ signatures and movements, saying he felt like his in-game self reflected his true style on the court. He also welcomed the deeper integration of WNBAincluding W cards in MyTeam, calling it a step in the right direction for gaming and sports.
When they finally faced off, Durant relied on classic team-ups and star power, while Thompson looked for athleticism and rim attacks. The banter grew louder as the game tightened — accusations of lag, defensive breakdowns and impromptu double teams on virtual LeBron James. Amen decided to pull out of the game before they even sat down, and when he got the win, he didn’t exactly play humbly. Durant, unfazed, described it as a long season: “We still have 81 games to play. »

Beyond the jokes, their 2K battle offered insight into the Rockets’ dynamic. Durant brings reliability, leadership and decades of NBA and playing experience. Thompson brings youthful energy, curiosity and a thirst for learning. Whether at the Toyota Center or at NBA 2K26Houston’s new era is built through competition, conversations and a shared love for all forms of the game.
