Kennedy’s “Maha” report targets vaccines, food supply and prescription drugs

Ali Rogin:

Today’s report comes after President Trump instructed the health secretary to identify the main engines of chronic disease in February. But if today’s report was the diagnosis, the recommended treatments are supposed to appear in a strategy document in the context of solutions by mid-August.

For a deeper dive on today’s report, we are now turning to Lauren Weber, journalist for health and science responsibility at the Washington Post.

Lauren, thank you very much for being here.

We have seen the report. What are your observations? Has something surprised you?

Lauren Weber, journalist for health and science responsibility, the Washington Post: Well, as you have noted, a large part has followed what Kennedy has been saying for many months, including during his presidential race. He ran on this idea and took this position as HHS that the chronic illness of the child is a huge problem that this country must attack.

And many nutrition experts I spoke to were really encouraged to see the report. They estimated that it had looked at ultra-transformed foods in a way that the United States did not do so. But several of the other medical experts I spoke to were alarmed by some of the report’s conclusions with regard to vaccines and medicines.
