Kelly Ripa suggested that she and her husband, Mark Consuelos, get an “airport divorce” to deal with their marital feuds.

On Wednesday’s “Live with Kelly and Mark,” the couple argued on-air before Ripa introduced the trend to her husband. An “airport divorce” occurs when a couple separates when they arrive at the airport and reunites once at their gate, according to People.

“Couples do something unique and I want you to be responsible for it. I think we could succeed with this: an airport divorce. [Because] you and I have different travel philosophies, different travel styles,” Ripa said.

Consuelos immediately defended herself and said, “What do you mean? For example, do I walk quickly to the airport?

Ripa explained that her husband had to arrive at the airport much earlier than she wanted.

“You have to arrive 4 to 16 hours before a flight takes off,” she said. Consuelos replied: “That’s not true.”

“Don’t say that. I’m very nice to people. It’s not cool,” he told his wife.

Ripa responded, “You’re very nice to people, but you’re angry with me.”

“No, I’m not angry with you,” Consuelos replied. “I’m irritated with you right now for trying to throw me under the bus.”

This did not end their on-air argument.

“And I said, ‘No no no, this isn’t the time where you’re mad at me because the line is too long. This is the time where you’re like, ‘Thanks honey, I’m sorry for making you wait in this line,'” Ripa said.

Consuelos laughed at Ripa’s memories of the incident and told her side of the story.

“You go through life, 30 years you know someone. And then when they tell a story, it’s like, ‘Who are you?’ Because I was there, and she was there, and the perspective is so different,” he said.

“So you weren’t irritated at all?” » asked Ripa. “You were happy as a clam? You were happy and it’s not my problem at all?”

Consuelos said the debate came from which security line to join.

“There was a fork in the road — go left or go right — and I said, ‘Let’s go this way,'” he said, before noting that Ripa had gone the other direction. “But I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, so I let it go.”

The audience groaned before Ripa defended herself.

“But now I’m with Mark, so my shoes are coming off and everything is out of my bag. I’m being raped in this line – and Mark is still angry with me!”

Ripa joked, “Airport divorce is what we’re definitely getting.”

Later in the show, the bickering between Ripa and Consuelos continued: this time, it was about the correct way to wash a car.

“I don’t have time – well first of all, I never drive – but I think my life is too short to add car washing. [by hand] to this. I feel like whoever dirty the car, it’s their responsibility to wash it. And if I’m a perpetual passenger, that’s not my problem,” Ripa said.

“Okay, so what about the inside of the car?” » said Consuelos. “Let’s start with, let’s get some Windex and maybe you’ll wipe the footprints off the windshield because the first thing you do is put your bare feet on the dashboard, and I look at your toe prints when you’re not there. I see toe prints on the windshield. You can start there.”
