Young Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights

Owen CooperMain performance Adolescence Took a storm in the world earlier this year, and the young star recently broke records as a younger male recipient of an Emmy Award last weekend. Although Cooper did not even appear in each episode of AdolescenceHe was the clear show of the show, and his career only becomes more exciting.
While Cooper’s victory at the Emmys will certainly open a lot of doors for him, the actor already has a very interesting project aligned on the horizon. It will appear in the subversive adaptation of Emerald Fennell of Wuthering HeightsScheduled for the release of Valentine’s Day next year.
Owen Cooper plays the young Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights
In a type of role very different from his turn AdolescenceOwen Cooper will appear as a younger version of Heathcliff by Jacob Elord Wuthering Heights. The character, created by Emily Brontë in 1847, is often considered the archetype of a classic Byronic anti-hero: someone whose jealousy and self-destructive compulsions destroy the lives of those around him.
There are clearly similarities to establish between the ill -placed anger of Cooper Adolescence protagonist and tragic rage of someone like Heathcliff, but It will be a very different company for the young actor. Without forgetting, it is an existing character who is already loved by a huge audience, there is therefore a certain pressure that accompanies the role.
Although no one doubts that Cooper does an excellent job with this character, it will certainly be a very demanding role. Not only does he share the anti-hero of Brontë with an actor acclaimed like Elordi, but it is also fair to assume that Fennell will modify certain aspects of the personality of Heathcliff to adapt to his modernized and unique point of view of history.
Adolescence Perhaps the springboard that Cooper needed to get his break in Hollywood, but Wuthering Heights could be the project which finally cement it as a sustainable star. Initial reactions Wuthering Heights The trailer has been mixed, but this controversy will only draw attention to the project.
There are very few literary figures just as attractive and complex as Heathcliff, it will therefore be fascinating to see how Cooper gives life to this character. His role will certainly be smaller than that of Elordi, but the young years of Heathcliff are crucial to understand why the character becomes as tortured and expressive as him. Cooper will be decisive to give life to this Wuthering Heights.
